The Vice President Merchandising, Digital Operations-Home is a leadership role within merchandising reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Merchandise Manager – Home.

Major Responsibilities
 
The role of the Vice President, Merchandising, Digital Operations - Home is a newly created opportunity to lead and execute our Home merchant strategy at Lord & Taylor. The successful individual in this role will build and lead a team that will develop and execute merchandise strategies to deliver sales and gross margin goals through focused merchandise assortments, marketing and pricing strategies and merchandise management.
 
Role responsibilities include:
  • Business Development: Lead all aspects of the home concept including strategy, recommendations, operating plan and budget. Identifies gaps through market trend analysis both internally and externally and revise the plan as needed.
  • Digital Strategy: Strategize to improve Digital business by analyzing sales and customer behavior. Execute the plans and create tailored assortments for the online business.
  • In-Store Operations:Responsible for building functional capability and competency in all areas of the store’s activities, operations, and initiatives.
  • Merchandising – Champions vendor relationships and communication.  Manages merchandise and marketing strategies to maximize sales and profitability, including directing the product development process and reviewing merchandise selection, assortments and key item development.
  • Open-to-Buy Monitoring –Leads the development of the open-to buy forecast and ensures that checkbooks are updated in conjunction with the updated, approved Open to Buy. Participates in the bi-monthly forecasting of sales and inventories through the OTB review process. Reviews and authorizes markdown projections and vendor allowance projections. Manages the negotiation and collection of vendor allowance.
  • Financial Planning - Establishes and approves department sales and average stock targets.  Approves department level store sales plans. Planning to conduct the Business Review
  • Pricing and Marketing Orchestrates pricing strategy and execution. Supervises and approves all advertising and promotions. Ensures appropriate store signage as required.
  • Purchasing, Allocation, and Replenishment - Champions the replenishment strategy for the Division, and ensures the reserve of appropriate funding for replenished merchandise.
  • People Development Directs organization and staffing, and manages skills training and development for the buying team. Develops and fosters a teamwork atmosphere.

The successful candidate should be a respected and proven thought leader in merchandising, digital, store operations and planning with a quantifiable track record of success in delivering results within a large complex organization.  He/she must have strong executive presence, business acumen, and the ability to quickly assess a new environment and develop solutions that support the business strategy, critical objectives, and cultural norms. He/she must be creative with a strategic mindset along with the ability to turn concepts into action.  He/she must have strong relationship building and influence skills. This role requires a player/coach mentality, capable of thinking strategically as well as rolling up one’s sleeves and getting into the work.  The successful candidate will be a change agent who is flexible, resilient, and able to thrive in a dynamic, rapid paced environment. He/she will embody a culture of taking smart risks and innovating to win.
 
Professional Qualifications
  • Extensive retail merchant experience with a minimum of 3 years senior-level responsibility.
  • Proven ability to create and execute a sound business strategy
  • Strong retail math acumen, including elements of markup, margin planning, open to buy, inventory productivity measures (WOS, T/O, GMROI)
  • Ability to build / maintain strong vendor partnerships
Educational Credentials
 
University or College degree or commensurate retail experience.
 
Travel
 
Willingness to travel including overseas.
