What This Position is All About:


The role of Operations Manager is responsible for the management and execution of initiatives within the distribution centre.  As an innovative leader, this position will drive efficiencies, increase productivity, and reduce costs while ensuring all service mandates are met.  


The Manager is responsible for providing direction in all areas of the daily operation.  Coaching and developing a team to create a culture of continuous improvement through associate engagement that supports our company values.  Work diligently to ensure Health and Safety is a priority while providing strong leadership and guidance to their immediate team; resulting in a safe, cost effective and productive environment.

You Also Have:


  • BA /BS degree preferred, 1-4 years of post-college business experience preferably in an automated retail distribution environment

  • Knowledge of automated order fulfillment systems (i.e. tilt tray sortation, ASRS, pick to light, pack to light, carrousel, A-Frame, etc

  • Knowledge of WMS systems

  • Effectively interact in a team environment with senior leadership, peer group, and relate to and motivate an hourly and salaried associate team

  • Develop, implement, and execute specific distribution strategies and partner with peers and corporate business partners within the Saks Direct team

  • Clearly demonstrate management of multiple tasks at the same time

  • Frequently lift up to 55 pounds. May operate warehouse equipment (i.e., forklift, pallet jack, cherry picker) which requires some coordinated movements

  • MS Office Suite proficient


As The Operation Manager, you will:


  • The primary responsibility of the position is to provide leadership and direction for responsible departments within the distribution center to include Inbound, Outbound, Quality or Returns as well as other areas as needed

  • Operate the Perfect Pick fulfillment system along with supporting fulfillment systems

  • Make recommendations and assist in formulation of departmental objectives, policies, and plans

  • Plan, examine, analyze and evaluate distribution center operations with respect to productivity standards, safety, and customer support

  • Evaluates current procedures; identifies, resolves operational problems; ensures company standards are met

  • Responsible for assisting in the creation and implementation of training programs for associates

  • Collaborate with DC executives to develop most efficient process for flowing freight through the distribution center

  • Monitor associate performance and conduct performance evaluations

  • Responsible for preparation of management reports, budgets, and analysis

  • Identify vendor issues and collaborate with Vendor Relations to correct

  • Manage all areas to ensure most cost effective use of resources

  • Spearhead the implementation of strategies that will reduce expense while supporting sales.

  • Support the coordination and planning of new business initiatives

  • Collaborate with Vendor Relations to expedite priority freight to support sales events
