What This Position is All About:

The Director of Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) will push the envelope of the buyer/vendor relationship to ensure the fastest flow of merchandise to the sales floor to enhance the shopping experience for the customer. He/she will need to demonstrate a firm but personable demeanor, a passion for process engineering, and a steadfast ability to govern.


The Director is to provide leadership and support in the improvement of merchandise shipping standards for across all banners in Canada. The incumbent will work with our partners to ensure one company approach at creating true vendor partnerships throughout all banners of HBC. Utilizing internal systems and processes, the Director supports Supply Chain by working with all levels within the buying, distribution, logistics and the vendor community to enforce the HBC standards.

You Also Have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Business Management or related field
  • MBA, Graduate Degree or Certifications an asset
  • At least 8-10 years of vendor relations, supply chain experience or related field
  • Current managerial responsibility of a medium sized team (5+)
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, influence decisions, and recommend a course of action based on data analytics
  • Ability to drive process improvement by identifying processes that can be automated and implementing checks and balances
  • A detail oriented mindset with superior organizational, self-motivation and problem solving skills
  • A strong sense of urgency to correct issues and resolve problems
  • Extensive knowledge in supply chain operations and related systems
  • Solid understanding of data analysis including advanced proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Microsoft Access
  • Proven leader, record of building teams, creating metrics and delivering results
  • E-commerce background is highly desired
As The Director, Supplier Relationship Management you will:
  • Provide continuous improvement focus and best practice focus on compliance management, vendor manuals, vendor communication, policy changes communication, vendor training, buyer training and vendor improvement programs
  • Expand the program to include areas of opportunities where vendors are not compliant relating to speed to market, on time delivery, vendor order fulfillment and floor ready standards
  • Manage the C$15M compliance program and streamline the collection of compliance violations
  • Develop and implement a Vendor Improvement which includes root cause analysis of the violations and assisting vendors in developing corrective actions
  • Set annual budgets with the finance team and measure monthly results to plan
  • Update the compliance capture software to include safeguards against errors
  • Act as an escalation point for compliance reviews
  • Investigate and recommend resolution to vendor initiated queries related to compliance
  • Escalation point for Compliance reviews for Senior HBC Management
  • Oversee the inbound flow of over 75K appointments and 10M cartons of merchandise to the Canadian distribution centers
  • Negotiate implementation of Servicing DC within the guidelines of existing MMVA’s
  • Develop documentation and coordinate training schedule to train vendors on new development and refinement of existing programs via live presentation and webinars
  • Support and work with merchant team with new vendor on-boarding to ensure a smooth and error-free logistical flow of product
  • Analyze and recommend best logistical flow of product to vendors and merchants
  • Develop and conduct presentations to all levels of the business
  • Adhere to business processes related to the position and offer suggestions for improvement where possible
