 What This Position is All About:

 

 

The role of Director, Supply Chain & Logistics Systems is accountable for end-to-end technology delivery to a portfolio of Business stakeholders.  It includes serving as account manager to the Business, providing a view to all services delivered across IT and serving as the escalation point.  Building technology roadmaps with Business and IT inputs is also part of this role’s mandate, shepherding initiatives through the funneling process to launch.  This role is responsible for delivering a portfolio of projects as well as application production support for the applications servicing the Business stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Relationship Management

  • Build a strong relationship with Business stakeholders to meet a shared set of organizational goals.

  • Partner with Business stakeholders to develop and maintain a multi-year technology roadmap in pursuit of Business objectives

  • Create and maintain an end-to-end view of all IT services delivered to Business stakeholders and deliver updates regularly to the stakeholders.

  • Serve as the escalation point for the Business for technology issues.

  • Build and maintain application / platform technology roadmaps that focus on (a) application rationalization, (b) moving to the cloud, and (c) moving from legacy to leading applications & platforms.

  • Deliver business cases for both business and technology driven initiatives and shepherd them through the governance approval process.

  • Oversee and validate both high level and detailed work estimates.

  • Keep up to date on industry developments in relation to the portfolio, both from a business and technology perspective.

Delivery

  • Drive and be ultimately accountable for a portfolio of projects in support of both Business and IT objectives and strategy.

  • Bring together cross functional teams including team members from PMO, Infrastructure, Quality Assurance, Security, Operations (among others) in pursuit of project success.

  • Lead weekly project status meetings plus working and steering committees as appropriate.

  • Provide regular updates to Business stakeholders on the health of their project portfolio and serve as the point of contact.

  • Ensure seamless transition of projects into operations.

  • Ensure that the project portfolio aligns to the roadmaps and meets objectives.

  • Manage third parties in support of project delivery.

  • Lead development of custom software where needed, leveraging modern devops methods, modern web-based technologies such as Java, NodeJS, JavaScript, and associated SDLC tools such as Jira and GitHub.

  • Conduct post-project lessons learnt reviews, to learn and share this knowledge with wider teams and strategically plan changes in improvement.

Operations

  • Provide application production support (Level 2 and 3) for the portfolio’s applications.

  • Analyze the production incident profile and drive initiatives to lower the incident rate.

  • Support the problem management process by owning and driving problems to resolution, including identifying root causes and corrective actions.

  • Drive an initiative to fully understand and document every portfolio application, especially legacy ones.

  • Manage an effective enhancement process, including identification, prioritization, implementation & tracking

  • Adopt, build and monitor processes for (a) application development for custom applications and (b) application configuration for packaged solutions.

  • Lead a highly energized team of technology professionals focused on business and IT success.

  • Identify and develop leaders within the team.

  • Develop a progressive recruitment, induction, ongoing training & development system to ensure high quality substance and capabilities in the entire team.

  • Monitor and ensure appropriate capitalization of team labour against projects vs. operations.
