What This Position Is All About:

HBC Digital, New York, NY seeks Middleware Manager - Primarily responsible for the effective operational status and integrity of the highly transactional e-commerce Systems and related technologies running on Red Hat Linux, Zing, WebLogic, TIBCO, and Oracle.  Oversee and plan the activities of the Infrastructure Team who in turn, are responsible for the day-to-day operations and the development and implementation of infrastructure technology services and solutions, including Middleware administration.  Provide technical leadership and mentoring, assign tasks, review the work produced, communicate new issues and/or IT system features as necessary, and provide guidance essential to the training and professional development of the Infrastructure team.  Perform automation for infrastructure related activities in the Linux and Windows Environment (examples Perl and Bash) including profiling running JAVA application Release management & deployment tools.   

Who You Are:

  • Manage multiple messaging layers based on TIBCO EMS/JMS and IBM MQ on the distributed middleware architecture across the life cycle of the applications.
  • Use of LINUX Operating System hosting the middleware applications.
  • Designing and implementing Monitoring Solutions using Perl and JAVA programming to ensure application availability.
  • Execution of Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises for the Middleware Production Systems; Use of Oracle Databases including JDBC connection pool settings and application configuration settings.  
  • Troubleshooting high priority issues and quick resolution with root cause analysis across the middleware layer in order to ensure minimum downtime for production systems. 
You Also Have:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree (or educ. equiv.) in Information Systems Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field and two (2) yrs. experience in the Job Offered or related occupation. 
  • Experience must have included Working in a 24/7 support model and providing TIBCO, Weblogic Middleware Administration/Support/Engineering services including problem simulation, value added services  including preventive maintenance and reviewing  impacts of new  releases.

As The Middleware Manager, You Will:

  • Ensure the availability of Messaging layers of the eCommerce distributed systems while utilizing technologies such as JMS and MQ.  
  • Responsible for emergency technical support of all production issues on a 24x7 on-call basis including responsibility for continuous improvement and optimization of monitoring to ensure 100% uptime of all platforms.
  • Perform troubleshooting related to application or system latency and perform root cause analysis independently or in collaboration with other teams.  
  • Work with the stakeholders including the HBC’s Application and Engineering teams to plan/execute Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises for HBC’s Ecom platforms.  
  • Research new products and technologies to improve system performance, responsiveness and scalability of the environment.  
  • Establish and implement “best-practice” standards as well as departmental policies and procedures which adhere to the ITIL (Incident/Problem/Change Management) processes of HBC including identification of opportunities for process improvements.  
  • Utilize technical expertise to oversee various IT projects and ensure that each project lifecycle is efficiently executed in accordance with the HBC Group’s established software engineering design specifications and technical parameters, as well as schedules and quality standards.  
  • Work with the senior management team in the development of IT departmental strategies to align with HBC’s overall corporate and business strategies. Interface with Architecture and Development teams on all e-commerce infrastructure incidents resolution and support.
