What This Position Is All About:

The DVP of Digital for saksoff5th.com owns the delivery and development of Saks OFF 5TH’s digital omni-channel merchandising vision and commercial priorities for all digital customer touchpoints, including site, email, and mobile.  In order to effectively develop a strategy that will achieve company financial objectives and KPI’s this position will work closely with Merchandising, Creative, Integrated Marketing, and Digital Operations.


Who You Are:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a mix of strategic, financial and creative abilities
  • Experience within the direct/digital business in determining the strategic execution of events. Is a fashion leader and is respected buy cross functional partners in merchandising, creative and marketing
  • Strong business and financial analysis skills
  • Proven ability to create and execute a sound business strategy
  • Strong retail math and business acumen, including elements of merchandising (e.g. sales, gross margin, GMROI) and the performance of features and digital assets (e.g. email opens, click-throughs)
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to build / maintain strong internal and external partnerships.

You Also Have:

  • BA/BS Degree
  • 10 years of relevant and progressive merchandising, creative and business management experience
  • Must demonstrate business acumen and a high level of analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask and achieve deadlines in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Power Point) and the ability to quickly learn internal systems, processes and additional software/web-based applications.

As The DVP, Digital Site Merchandising, You Will:

  • Develop and articulate the digital manifestation of Saks OFF 5TH merchandising vision for website and e-mail content.  Ensure that this vision remains true to the OFF 5TH POV across all channels and across mediums.
  • Own the seamless and cohesive omni-channel customer experience across all digital platforms on the dimensions of content (i.e., POV, newness) and shopability (i.e., ability to purchase featured products).  Ensure that OFF 5TH offers a best in class customer experience on these dimensions. Has deep knowledge of expertise on what drives the online customer and understands differences between online versus store shopability.
  • Requires strong cross-functional relationships with DMMs, Creative, and Marketing. Is a key strategic partner to executives and develops and executes a digital strategy is aligned with overall banner goals and objectives. Takes highly collaborative approach with key partners and ensures digital assets are consistent with the overall strategic vision of Saks OFF 5TH.
  • Own the merchandising execution of OFF 5TH’s digital merchandising vision for main homepage features ensuring that OFF 5TH delivers powerful features that drive sales, and strengthen the customer and vendor perception of Saks OFF 5TH.
  • Responsible for the execution of OFF 5TH’s digital merchandising vision for home pages and email features.  This includes the ideation of the story behind each feature and the strategic selection of featured items with the inventory depth and aesthetic presence to drive sales. Requires the continual synthesis of digital marketing performance indicators, financial goals and market trends.
  • Own and develop the high level strategic roadmap calendar that will determine the frequency and type of features to develop for strategic vendors, trends, and items.  Requires the ability to balance, prioritize and edit the various merchandising needs of 6+ DMMs and 25+ buyers utilizing finite site and email real estate.
  • Build and maintain a highly-functional and responsive team of 3 Category Managers, 3 Assistant Category Managers and 1 Digital Merchandise Assistant who will execute OFF 5TH’s omni-channel merchandising vision and commercial priorities for their specific categories of business (accessories, women’s and men’s).  This team owns the execution of the digital merchandising vision (roadmap, creative conceptualization, vendor interaction, style-out, etc. for editorials, emails, section pages).
