What This Position Is All About:

The Divisional VP Diversity & Inclusion will champion the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive culture by leading the development of a vision and effective strategy to create a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Reporting directly to the CHRO and being a strategic partner to the Executive Committee, you will serve as an advisor for all, this encompasses our Customers, Associates and vendor community; in the areas of diversity, inclusion and equity.  You are also responsible for our HBC Heritage programs and initiatives to ensure the company embraces its history with a focus on ensuring our past will be a part of our future.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with experience in multiple communication modes, including social media, with the ability to articulate the importance of inclusion and diversity to the broader educational mission of higher education institutions
  • Knowledge of collections management, conservation and care best practices
  • Experience conducting efficient and accurate historical research and reference services
You Also Have:
  • Seven to Eight years of experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in a complex organization
  • Five years of experience working in an affirmative action and EEO compliance function
  • One to Two years of executive leadership experience
  • A degree in social justice, education, sociology, social anthropology, public administration, human resource management or other related field will be considered an asset
  • Bilingual French language skills will be considered an asset
As the DVP Diversity & Inclusion You Will:
  • Plan, guide and advise the Hudson’s Bay Executive Committee on diversity, equity, inclusion and affirmative action matters
  • Lead the organization in implementing strategic initiatives, including the creation of a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Collaborate with management to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure fair and equitable treatment and selection of customers, vendor partners and associates
  • Provide strategic direction for training initiatives on cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, building a climate of equity and inclusion, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws
  • Support and advocate for diversity councils, multicultural event programming and employee resource groups
  • Establish and maintain an internal audit and reporting system to allow for effective measurement of programs. Assess and monitor program effectiveness and keep the business informed of progress and challenges through periodic reports
  • Oversee investigations across the organization that pertain to discrimination or harassment
  • Sit on the Heritage Foundation Board and participate in setting the overall foundation strategy
  • Promote the Heritage department and its services, and provide best customer service to all internal and external requestors
  • Maintain and grow the Heritage function as a critical asset to Hudson’s Bay, monitors and maintains the collections, increasing its value
  • Act as the corporate storyteller for HBC - educating both internally and externally on our unique position
  • Accelerate our role in T&R, and maintains our commitments
  • Build associate pride and customer loyalty through special events such as the celebration of the Company's anniversary every May and the further development of the education program
